From 1 to Z is a card game and a learning tool all in one. Just roll the die and go! Each side of the foam task die features one of these challenge words: Math, Word, Either, Both. Depending on the task, players use their cards to make a math equation, spell a word, do either, or do both. The player who uses the most cards at the end of five rounds is the winner.

• HOW TO PLAY: Players are dealt 6 cards. One player rolls the die for everyone, and the timer starts. If “Math” is rolled, players use the numbers on their cards to make equations. If “Word” is rolled, players use the letters on their cards to spell words. Rolling “Either” or “Both” offers more options and opportunities. Each correctly used card goes into a player’s points pile. At the end of five rounds, the player with the most cards in their points pile is the winner.
• HOW IT CAN HELP: Mental math is a sought-after skill for elementary-school students, and being able to quickly recognize numbers that add to 10 (or multiples of 10) is an important tool in mastering this skill.
