It would be a tempting overstatement to suggest that, in the intervening 20-plus years, the color LCD graphics of this new format have surpassed those of the quarter-gobbling original, but the Color FX II (powered by four AA batteries, not included) does provide a faithful re-creation of the traditional Pacman pursuit. Players still direct that half-smiley face, half-tennis ball through the maze as it chomps as many dots as possible while eluding the green ghosts. The FX II, with its slick, translucent orange chassis, features optional arcade sounds; although, with six control buttons, it's a bit of a shame that the Pacman navigation function--in all four directions--has been shoe-horned onto one button smaller than your thumb.
